In short: Atlantic City International (ACY) is in Egg Harbor Township, about nine miles northwest of Atlantic City. From Trenton or Hamilton it is about 64 miles, usually around 95–120 minutes without heavy traffic; from Bordentown about 57 miles. Most trips follow I-295 and Route 42 to the Atlantic City Expressway, leaving at Exit 9. Our Atlantic City airport car service monitors your flight and sends a written quote before you book.
When flying from Atlantic City makes sense
ACY is a longer drive from Mercer County than Philadelphia or Newark, so most people choose it for a reason. The common ones:
- The flight fits. A nonstop, a schedule or a fare you cannot get at the bigger airports.
- You are already heading south. The trip pairs with a stay in Atlantic City or at a nearby shore town before or after you fly.
- Business on the airport site. The FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center shares the airport property, so some visitors fly in or out for meetings there.
- A smaller terminal. Some travelers prefer a compact airport over a large hub.
Airline service at ACY has changed a lot in recent years. Before you plan around it, check which airlines fly your route now and how often.
The drive from Mercer County to ACY
The usual route runs south on I-295 to Route 42, the North-South Freeway, which becomes the Atlantic City Expressway at Turnersville in Gloucester County. From there it is a straight run southeast to Exit 9, signed for the airport and the FAA Technical Center. Expressway tolls and any others on your route are listed in your written quote.
Traffic on the Expressway follows the shore calendar. Summer Fridays and Saturdays tend to be busiest heading east, and Sunday afternoons heading back west. Holiday weekends and big events in Atlantic City add to it. If your flight falls on one of those days, we plan a bigger buffer.

From Princeton and Bucks County: is ACY worth it?
The farther north you live, the longer the ride. From Princeton, ACY is about 74 miles, usually around 105–135 minutes without heavy traffic, and Philadelphia airport is about 54 miles. From Yardley, ACY is about 69 miles and PHL about 41. From East Windsor, ACY is about 70 miles.
For those towns, ACY makes most sense when the flight itself is the draw or when the trip starts or ends at the shore. If the same flight is available at PHL or Newark, compare the total door-to-gate time before you buy. Our Philadelphia airport car service page has drive times for every town we serve.
Timing your departure
Start with your airline's advice on arrival time and bag-drop cutoffs. Then add the drive, which is close to two hours from much of Mercer County, and a buffer for the day you travel.
For an 11:00 a.m. domestic flight from Hamilton, you would aim to be at the terminal around 9:00 a.m. That usually means a pickup around 6:45 a.m. on a weekday. On a summer Saturday we might suggest 6:15 a.m. instead. Early-morning rides are available by reservation, and your quote confirms the pickup time.
Arriving at ACY
- Share your flight number. We monitor the flight, so your chauffeur adjusts if you land early or late.
- Message us when you have your bags. Call, text or WhatsApp.
- Meet at the curb or in baggage claim. Your chauffeur meets you outside arrivals, or inside near baggage claim with meet & greet on request.
Your written quote explains how waiting time works. On the long drive home, tell us if you need a stop, and your chauffeur will plan one.
What the ride includes
- A quote in writing that shows the rate plus any tolls, parking, airport fees and gratuity before you say yes
- Flight monitoring on the way in, so a late landing does not cost you your ride
- Help loading suitcases, golf bags and beach gear
- Child seats on request, confirmed in your quote
- Early-morning and late-night rides by reservation
Combining the airport with Atlantic City
Some travelers fly into ACY and spend a night or two in Atlantic City before heading home to Mercer County. We can drive you from the airport to your hotel, then collect you on the day you leave. Others start in Mercer County, spend an evening in Atlantic City and catch a flight the next morning. Both plans fit in one written quote.
If the city is the main event, see our long-distance car service for trips to Atlantic City itself, or plan an evening out with our night-out limo service.
