PHL or Newark? Compare from your town

Mercer County sits between two large hub airports. Which one is closer depends on which side of the county you live on. The western and southern towns lean toward Philadelphia; Princeton and the Route 1 corridor lean toward Newark.

A few miles either way rarely decides it. Nonstop routes, departure times and fares usually matter more, so check both airports when you search for flights. Our guide on Philadelphia airport versus Newark from Trenton walks through the trade-offs.

Trenton to PHL: how we drive it

There are two main ways to reach the airport from our area, and your chauffeur picks between them based on where you start and how traffic looks.

  • Through Pennsylvania on I-95: from Trenton, Ewing, Pennington, Yardley and Newtown, cross the Delaware River (the Scudder Falls Bridge carries I-295), follow I-295 to I-95, then I-95 south past Center City to the airport exit.
  • Through South Jersey: from Hamilton, Robbinsville and Bordentown, the NJ Turnpike south to Exit 3 and the Walt Whitman Bridge, then I-95 south to the airport.

Both routes cross a toll bridge over the Delaware River. Tolls on your route are listed in your written quote before you confirm. I-95 through Philadelphia is the stretch most likely to slow you down, especially on weekday afternoons and when there is a game or concert at the stadiums in South Philadelphia.

Departing from PHL

Philadelphia International has seven terminals laid out in a long row: A-West, A-East, and B through F. Your airline tells you which one you use. Add it to your booking request and your chauffeur drops you at that terminal's departures curb.

Many airlines suggest arriving about two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international one. For a 6:30 a.m. domestic flight from Yardley, aiming for the terminal around 4:30 a.m. usually means a pickup near 3:30 a.m. Early-morning rides are available by reservation, so book as soon as your flight is ticketed.

Arriving at PHL: where you meet your chauffeur

  1. We follow your flight. Share the flight number when you book, and your pickup moves with any early or late landing.
  2. Collect your bags. Then send a call, text or WhatsApp message to let us know you are ready.
  3. Head to the commercial roadway. PHL sends passengers with pre-arranged rides to the commercial roadway behind baggage claim, and signs in baggage claim point the way. Your chauffeur texts you the exact meeting spot.
  4. Or meet inside. Meet & greet near baggage claim is available on request.

For international arrivals, allow time for passport control and customs before you reach baggage claim. We watch the landing and wait for your message. Waiting-time terms are stated in your quote.

Landing late in the evening

Late flights are when a pre-booked ride matters most. After a long day of travel you walk out to a car that is already waiting, rather than searching for a ride at the curb. The drive home is usually quicker at night, often close to the low end of the times in the table above. Late-night pickups are available by reservation, so include your flight number when you book.

Rail or car from Trenton to the airport?

There is a rail option. SEPTA's Trenton Line runs from Trenton Transit Center into Center City Philadelphia, where you change to SEPTA's Airport Line for the terminals. It works for a solo traveler with a carry-on and time to spare. With checked bags, children or an early flight, the change of trains and the walk between platforms add up, and the first trains of the day may not reach the airport early enough for a dawn departure.

A car service starts at your front door and ends at your terminal, with one set of hands lifting your bags. If you would still like to take the train, we can drive you to Trenton Transit Center instead; see our train station car service.

Vehicles, families and groups

A luxury sedan suits up to three passengers with two or three checked bags. A luxury SUV seats up to six with four to six checked bags, a good fit for a Bucks County family heading to Florida for spring break or a couple with golf clubs. Larger groups, such as a youth team or a wedding party flying out together, can share an executive van. Capacities vary by model, and your written quote names the vehicle class. Child seats are available on request. See the fleet for details.

What every PHL ride includes

  • A written quote listing the rate and any tolls, parking, airport fees and gratuity

How long is the drive from Trenton to Philadelphia airport?

Trenton to PHL is about 43 miles and usually around 55–70 minutes without heavy traffic. I-95 through Philadelphia slows down at rush hour, and game days and holiday weekends add time too. We plan your pickup with a buffer for the hour you travel and confirm the time in your quote.
