In short: Our Newark airport car service takes you from your door in Mercer County to your terminal at Newark Liberty International (EWR), and home again when you land. From Princeton the drive is about 40 miles and usually around 50–65 minutes without heavy traffic, mostly on the NJ Turnpike. We monitor arriving flights, offer meet & greet at baggage claim on request, and send a written quote before you book.

Who Newark suits best

For much of central New Jersey, Newark is the nearest major airport. Travelers in Princeton, West Windsor, Plainsboro, East Windsor and New Brunswick are closer to EWR than to Philadelphia, and Newark offers far more nonstop routes than Trenton-Mercer. From New Brunswick the ride is only about 25 miles.

If you live in Trenton, Ewing, Bordentown or Bucks County, Philadelphia can be just as close, so compare both before you buy a ticket. Our Philadelphia airport car service page lists those drive times town by town.

A private car pays off when you have checked bags, children, an early departure or a meeting soon after you land. You skip the parking lot, the shuttle and the train transfer, and you leave from your own driveway.

Princeton to Newark Airport: the usual routes

Almost every trip from our area finishes on the NJ Turnpike northbound, leaving at Exit 13A or Exit 14, the two interchanges signed for the airport. How your chauffeur reaches the Turnpike depends on where you start:

  • Princeton, West Windsor and Plainsboro: US-1 north to Turnpike Exit 9 at New Brunswick, or across to Exit 8A (Jamesburg/Cranbury).
  • East Windsor and Hightstown: straight onto the Turnpike at Exit 8.
  • Hamilton and Robbinsville: I-195 east to Exit 7A.
  • Trenton, Ewing and Lawrenceville: US-1 north, or I-295 to I-195 and Exit 7A, depending on the hour.
  • Bordentown: the Turnpike at Exit 7.
  • Yardley and Newtown, PA: I-95 now follows the Pennsylvania Turnpike across the Delaware River and joins the NJ Turnpike.

Your chauffeur checks live traffic before choosing. Weekday rush hours and holiday weekends are when the buffer matters most. Turnpike tolls and any airport fees on your trip are listed in your written quote.

Timing your pickup for an EWR departure

Many airlines suggest arriving about two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international one. Follow your own airline's advice, because bag-drop cutoffs differ. We then add the drive and a traffic buffer and suggest a pickup time.

Take a 7:00 a.m. domestic flight from Princeton. You want to be at the terminal around 5:00 a.m. The Turnpike is usually light that early, so a pickup near 3:45 a.m. leaves room for a slow security line. For a 5:30 p.m. weekday flight, leave earlier than the mileage suggests: the afternoon rush can add 30 minutes or more.

Arriving at Newark: how your pickup works

  1. Send your flight number. Add it to your booking request. We monitor the flight, so an early or late landing moves your pickup with it.
  2. Message us when you land. A call, text or WhatsApp message lets your chauffeur time the approach to your terminal.
  3. Choose curb or baggage claim. Your chauffeur meets you at baggage claim or the curb, as you prefer. Meet & greet inside the terminal is available on request.
  4. Load up and head home. Your chauffeur handles the bags. Waiting-time terms are stated in your quote.

Newark's terminal curbs are reserved for active pickups. For a curbside meet, your chauffeur brings the car up once you and your bags are outside, which keeps the handoff quick.

International arrivals

After an international flight you clear passport control and customs and collect your bags before you reach the arrivals area. That can take a few minutes or well over an hour. We watch the landing time and then wait for your message. Meet & greet is a popular choice here, because your chauffeur is already standing where you come out. Tell us if you are bringing home more bags than you left with.

Vehicles and luggage for EWR trips

A luxury sedan carries up to three passengers with two or three checked bags, the usual pick for a business trip. A luxury SUV seats up to six with four to six checked bags, which suits families and anyone carrying golf clubs, skis or a stroller. Groups flying together, such as a team heading to a conference or a family leaving for a destination wedding, can share an executive van. Capacities vary by model, so your quote names the vehicle class. Compare the options on our fleet page.

Child seats are available on request. Tell us the children's ages when you book and we confirm the seats in your quote.

Prefer the train for part of the trip?

NJ Transit Northeast Corridor trains stop at Newark Liberty International Airport Station, where AirTrain Newark connects to the terminals. If you travel light and would rather ride the rails, we can take you to Princeton Junction or Hamilton station instead. See our train station car service for how those rides work.

Frequently asked questions

How early should I leave Princeton for a flight at Newark Airport?

The drive is about 40 miles and usually around 50–65 minutes without heavy traffic. Add your airline's arrival advice (many suggest about two hours for domestic and three for international flights) and a buffer for traffic. For a 7 a.m. domestic departure that often means a pickup around 3:45 a.m. We suggest a pickup time in your quote.

Which Newark terminal should I give my chauffeur?

Newark Liberty has three terminals: A, B and C. Your airline tells you which one you use, and assignments can change, so check your booking a day or two before you fly. Put the terminal in your booking request if you know it. If you are unsure, we confirm it with you before pickup so you are dropped at the right door.

What happens if my flight into Newark is delayed?

Add your airline and flight number when you book. We monitor the flight, so your pickup follows the actual landing time rather than the schedule printed on your ticket. Send a quick text or WhatsApp message once you land and have your bags. How waiting time is handled is stated in your written quote before you confirm.

Can my driver meet me inside the terminal at EWR?

Yes. Meet & greet at baggage claim is available on request, which many travelers choose after a long or international flight. If you prefer, you can collect your bags and step out to the curb instead. Newark's curbs are for active pickups only, so for a curbside meet your chauffeur pulls up once you and your bags are outside.

Is a car service or the train better from Princeton to Newark Airport?

NJ Transit Northeast Corridor trains run from Princeton Junction to Newark Liberty International Airport Station, where AirTrain Newark links to the terminals. That works well with light bags. A private car takes you from your door to your terminal with no transfers, which is usually easier with children, heavy luggage or a very early flight.

Do you pick up from Newark Airport late at night?

Yes. Early-morning and late-night rides are available by reservation, so book as soon as you know your flight. A pre-booked car means you are not hunting for a ride after midnight, when you mostly want to get home. Share your flight number and we plan the pickup around your landing.
